Welcome

to Simple-ism

Simple-ism: walls with distinctive character that refreshingly stand out from the conventional.

1. Bring together a community of people who appreciate simplicity and to highlight the hard work done in putting "simple" walls together

2. Redefine "simplicity"

3. Promote others' works... provide the best place to check out some of MT's finest walls ^.^

The word "simple" gets a lot of hype on MT, mostly because many people believe that [BOT]chii likes to delete simple walls. While there's truth that simplicity is often underrated in MT, "simple-ism" here does not mean a scan slapped on to a stock/abstract background, but a wall made with effort, well-thought out composition and design.

If two or more people "votes" for a nominated wall in the group guestbook, it'll be added to the featured gallery section :) Please indicate "+1" if your vote is the first vote for the wall, "+2" if your vote is the second vote for the wall, so on and so forth.

The Simple-ism featured gallery here at the group and on flyindreams' and bluSake's userpages recognizes walls that got voted multiple times. For people whose walls got voted multiple times but aren't members of Simple-ism, congrats to pureilluzion, biriwilg, Koinux, zephiris26, Erdbeermilch (2), SharinganKnight, Chloe-chan (2), Spidey-Matt, Naomi-chan2612 (2), kas-chan, mooling89, MuZ0NaZ, K1ru (2), ventures, Regenbogen, danalm, kashikosa, Gid, afwells, xangel0, coralstone.

On Simplicity

Thoughts and Comments

NOTE: Please let the admins/mods know if you object to having your quotes or images up on the group page... ^^ This applies to everything else on the group page as well.

Rue-chan: What is simple-ism to me? I think it is... putting things only when necessary. Lines only when they are required. Shades only when they are required to bring out a distinct form. As long as it conveys the "form", or the shape or structure we wish to show, it is needed. Rest are just adornments or unnecessary complications.

SailorDove: For me, Simplicity is about making desktop beautiful and functional. With my bad eyes, I prefer the wall to provide a space for my icons and not to blind me while I'm working. My personal preference are darker or soft colored backgrounds with a fresh perspective on the characters/subjects.

Narikoneko: The more "simple" you show the idea of the wall, the greater the impact on the viewer... because the audience's mind is not filled up with elements and symbols that distract their attention, but can redefine the idea of the wallpaper and make it their own.

chubbykitty: Having an absence of filth, disarray, and clutterness; applying creativity, elegance, and quality into art.

DernierCri: it is the art to create with less, to visualize a single word, to see the essence of the world itself... to make a simple wall that conveys an idea is harder than doing it with other styles of wallpapers.

bluSake: It's not about simplicity for the sake of minimalism: it's about the completion of an image. In walling specifically, I think it's about drawing out the mood the character in the scan you select - nothing more and nothing less.

Tama-Neko: it is just as difficult, and often times more so, to create a simplistic wallpaper than a filter-whore/complex wallpaper, because without lots of effects to distract the eye one must pay closer attention to the details that are present in a wallpaper, layouting, and balance of elements.

Welcome! :D

hello just recently joined here :)

Quote by Rue-chanI have a question.

How do you make an "offsite" site page for some things we Dont want to clutter the group page with? :o

Since I have my own personal website and I like running projects, I tend to host project pages off the pixel ellipsis server. I think other groups do similar offsite pages with either personal or free web hosting services.

hey since i submitted my wall here thought i might inform you guys as well.
I deleted it to submit an updated/edited version later. It shall still be simple. All my walls will be simple. :) And when i submit the new version, i will be back again. TC

I love this group. Like after my own heart, exactly what i like in walls,... "Simple"

Also flyin, you forgot to add "Lost to My Music" in the offline gallery and link to "No Reply by annakee" got me to alterlier's instead.

Thanks, I fixed the "No Reply" link :]

I think your wall fits, but I'm not sure about the "concept" or "story" part of the wall so I'm holding on the add to the offline gallery. It's kind of a similar reasoning with maple's music wall in that I wasn't sure about the "concept" there. The concept doesn't have to be real profound (although being profound would be fine too ;D), just be one or two lines about the thought/story behind the wall. So if I had to come up with a concept for maple's wall for example I would elaborate just a touch more on the "lost to music" title in the description.

I dunno if this makes sense since it's kinda subjective - _- But I figured I'd try to uphold the concept part of the theme anyways since that's what makes this version of the inspiration project slightly different from the first one. The next version of the inspiration project will have a slightly different theme yet again to keep things interesting :D
